The Troutman Police Department is investigating a multi-vehicle crash that claimed one life and resulted in serious injuries to two other people on Tuesday.

Troutman Fire Rescue and Iredell County EMS personnel, along with TPD officers, responded to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Autumn Leaf Lane and South Main Street in Troutman about 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Responders extricated multiple patients who were pinned in their vehicles, including the driver of a dump truck that overturned.

Troutman Police Chief Josh Watson confirmed Tuesday evening that one person was fatally injured. A second person sustained life-threatening injuries and a third was treated for serious injuries, Watson said.

Three other individuals were treated by EMS at the scene.

The names of the injured and deceased individuals were not released Tuesday pending family notification.

South Main Street was closed in both directions while the TPD investigated the crash.
