Edgar Hudson, 87, beloved husband of Betty Jean Hudson, was welcomed into heaven on October 12, 2024. Edgar was born November 27, 1936, to Henry and Anna Hudson in Mt. Gilead, N.C. He had 11 brothers and sisters who, along with his mother and father, preceded him in death.

Edgar married Betty Jean on Christmas Day in 1955, and they remained happily married for almost 69 years until his death. He worked in the textile industry for his entire career, the vast majority as a finishing supervisor. He was a devoted member of Yadkin Baptist Church in Statesville.

He loved to visit with friends and family, golf, watch all sports on TV, raise his garden, ride his four-wheeler and keep his yard in pristine condition. He was a diehard fan of his UNC Tar Heels. He was a Christian who loved his family with every ounce of his being. He loved vacationing with his nephew, Jerry, and niece, Robin.

In addition to his mother, father and siblings, he was preceded in death by his son, Jody.

Edgar is survived by his wife; two sons, Eddie (Neena) and Ricky (Jeremy); six grandchildren, Mitch (Mandy), Mindy (Tanner), Megan (Matt), Maisie (Joe), Luke and Rudy; and six great grandchildren, Aria, Asher, Ava, Hudson, Marlee, and Palmer.

The family will receive friends at Yadkin Baptist Church on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 10:30 until 11:30 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Phillip Crider officiating. Burial will be held at Iredell Memorial Park.
