Ricky Lee “Rhyno” Rhyne, 65, of Statesville, N.C., died unexpectedly on Monday, October 21, 2024. He was born in Iredell County to William Ned Rhyne and the late Betty Carter Rhyne. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Andrea Shoemaker.

Rhyno was a 1978 graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy. He had worked in construction, was a Lead Line at CommScope for over 25 years, and had worked for G&G Lumber. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking. More than anything, he loved his family and treasured the time spent with them.

He was a 28-year member of the #690 Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge, where he currently was serving as president and had been for several years. He was also a Shriner and has been very involved in their work, keeping the organization active, and serving the community in such a selfless manner. God filled up Ricky’s spirit in such a special way! He loved this area and served so diligently. If we all served and loved like he did, the world would be a much better place. Ricky was one of those people who touched lives with his presence. The world will miss him, but Heaven welcomes him, and God speaks these words, “Well done, my Faithful Servant, Well Done!” May his spirit forever shine bright!

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 44 years, Debbie Barnes Rhyne; two sons, Erick Rhyne (Lauren) and Brennan Rhyne (Tia); two daughters, Elisha Rhyne (Vince) and Brandi Tran; eight grandchildren, Jackson Rhyne, Jayvian Rucker, Caydence Wike, Mason Rhyne, Jayceton Rhyne, Tucker Rhyne, Liam Tran, and Ayden Tran; a brother, Shane Rhyne; and a sister, Nedda Stone (Terry). He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with Pastor James Smith officiating. Masonic rites will be given. The viewing and visitation will follow the service in the church, ending at 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Shriners Children’s Headquarters, c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
