James Edward Lazenby, 72, was born in Iredell County on February 12, 1952, to the late Sanford Lazenby and Robena Bennett Lazenby. He departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. James was preceded in death by his brother, Jerry Campbell, and stepbrother, John Alston.

He attended Unity High School and was employed as a general laborer, and he loved all kinds of recreation. Some of his favorite hobbies included fishing, sports, being with his family, and he loved being involved with his grandchildren. James will truly be missed.

James leaves to cherish the memory of his life one son, Tyrus (Isabel) Lazenby; two daughters, Tikka (Derek) Phyall of Parkville, Md., and Tanya Lazenby of McDonough, Ga.; two brothers, Bobby (Tracy) Lazenby of Statesville and Tony (Tarnell) Lazenby; five sisters, Carolyn (Robert) Speaks of Stony Point, Shirley Campbell (Solomon) of Troutman, Nancy Lineburger of Statesville, Vanessa Lazenby of Landis, and Joyce Lazenby of Detroit, Mich.; and a host of grandchildren, other cousins, relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024,at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. with Elder Tikka Nicole Phyall officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 2:30 p.m.
