Mr. James Frank Lackey Jr., 74, was born in Iredell County, N.C., on October 28, 1948, to the late Bishop James Francis Lackey Sr., and Lucille Montgomery Lackey. He passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.
He attended Statesville High School and Mitchell Community College where he received his automotive degree. James was a mechanic with Cannon Motors. He will truly be missed.
Visitation is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 27, at Gateway To Heaven, 1336 Winston Avenue, Statesville, N.C. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Lonnie Gray officiating.

I used to work with James and he was always a positive influence with his laughter and good humor. When I was a teenager, he let me drive his brand new Dodge Challenger to South Iredell High School and use it for the homecoming event.
My sincere heartfelt condolences to James’s family. I have cherished memories of this wonderful man. May God rest his soul and bring comfort to his family and friends.
