Aurelia “Nan” Ketchie Weatherman was born on September 19, 1941, and passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, November 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Nan was married to the
late Walter “Ron” Ronald Weatherman for 53 years.
Nan was born to the late Bill and Louise Ketchie. She was a graduate of Statesville High School and Lees McRae College and worked in Medical Records at Davis Hospital for 42 years.
Nan and Ron had a beautiful love story – they met when they were 14 years old. Ron knew he had to give Nan a reason to marry him, so he worked hard to build a life and a home. They were married in 1962 and had many years of fun and laughter. Nan and Ron loved to travel with friends and have yearly trips to Ocean Drive with family. They shared a life that was filled with family and friends!
Nan was a faithful member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church since 1960 and had been very involved with her church until the time of her death. She served as a deacon and an elder and was a Sunday School, Day Camp, and Bible School Teacher. She was the church hostess, and office assistant, and served on the Sanctuary Guild. She was a member of the Women of the Church, and a Circle Chairman and organizer of the Joy Group and the Prayer Group. Nan also received the Presbyterian Woman Lifetime Achievement Award.
Nan loved her church family dearly!!!
Everyone who knew Nan knew how sweet, kind, and giving she was. Nan loved trips to the mountains and the beach and loved sharing those times with her family and friends.
Nan also loved seeing the moon and all its many shapes and shared pictures with her family often. Every time one of her family members saw a beautiful moon, they shared it with each other – the moon will be an forever reminder of sweet Nan!
She was a faithful servant to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ which showed in everything she did. To know Nan, was to Love Nan!
In addition to her husband and parents, Nan was also preceded in death by two siblings, Linda Allmon and Debra Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Matt Weatherman (Lori) and David Weatherman (Ashlee); and her grandchildren, Marley, Sam, Jack, and Colbie. She is also survived by two sisters, Patricia Johnson and Billy Furches.
Her funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on November 17, 2024, at Forest Park Presbyterian Church in Statesville. The family will visit with friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Nan’s memory to Forest Park Church or Hospice of Iredell County.
Troutman Funeral Home is serving the family.
Nan was always a very kind person anytime I saw her.
Nan always greeted me with a smile. She was truly one of the sweetest Christian ladies I have ever known. In the 30 years I worked with her, I never heard her say an unkind word about anyone. She could always find the good in whomever she encountered. What a kinder place the world would be if it had more Nan Weathermans in it!
I am Nan’s sister, Billie. Nan was a wonderful sister. She helped me out in so many ways. She was fun especially on road trips. She was a good person and loved her Lord. I will miss her terribly. Love you, Nan.
