James Henry Queen, 89, went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior with his wife by his side on Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home. He was born October 3, 1935, in Iredell County, the son of the late Stacey Queen and Beulah Estes Queen.

James previously worked at Southern Screw for 25 years as a fixer; he then worked for Classic Leather in Hickory, N.C., until retirement.

James was a charter member of Unity Baptist Church for 37 years. He loved working outside and NASCAR racing. He loved the Lord, his family, and his church. He also had special friends that he met for breakfast at Bojangles each morning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children and first wife, Lilly (Dolly) Taylor Queen; daughters, Kathy Louise and Sandra (Sandy); sisters, Rosalee (Cooter), Mildred, and Bertha Mae (Bert); and brothers, Marvin, John, and Roy Lee (Frog).

Those left to honor and cherish his memories include his wife of 51 years, but together for 58 years, Linda Combs Queen; his son, Henry Dale Queen (Lisa) of Trinity, N.C. A number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 15, 2024, at Unity Baptist Church, 650 Mock Mill Road, Statesville, NC 28677. Pastor James Keever and Pastor Ryan Beckham will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. prior to the service.
