Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center will host its annual World Falconry Day celebration on Saturday, November 16.
This free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 248 Allisons Woods Drive, Statesville.
In partnership with the North Carolina Falconers Guild, Allison Woods Outdoor Learning Center will provide attendees with the chance to see magnificent birds of prey, including owls and hawks. Guild members will be on hand to answer questions, provide insights into the practice of falconry, and share fascinating facts about these incredible raptors.
World Falconry Day is celebrated globally to honor the rich cultural heritage and traditions of falconry, which dates back thousands of years. This day highlights the important role falconry has played in human history and its continued significance in wildlife conservation and education. Attendees will not only witness the beauty and skill of these birds but also learn about the dedication and expertise required to train and care for them.
The event will feature a variety of activities for kids, ensuring a fun and educational experience for the whole family. Various activities will allow children will have the chance to learn about raptors and the environment in an engaging and entertaining way.
