Doris Jean Fleming Shook, 80, of Cornelius, N.C., went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 16, 2024. She was born on October 3, 1944, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late John Fleming II and Claudine Mayhew Fleming.

Doris was a former member of Cornelius Four Square Church. She loved her Lord and Savior. Doris was a terrific seamstress, enjoyed art, watching soap operas, Gunsmoke, reading, Elvis, and anything associated with England.

She loved her family, especially the grandchildren and will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by infant daughter, Crystal Dawn Shook and sister-in-law, Teresa Fleming.

Those left to cherish Doris’s memory are her loving husband of 62 years, Joel Douglas Shook; children, Joel “Joe” David Shook (Christy) of Patterson, N.C., and Lisa Joanne Drye (Martin) of Iron Station, N.C.; brothers, John Fleming III, Larry Fleming (Sarah Ruth), and Billy Fleming (Mary Ann); sister, Martha Ann Melton (Russell); seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 22, at the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, with Rev. Andy Zegert officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
