We are in the season of Thanksgiving. During this time of year, we look back and reflect on what we are thankful for. Some may be thankful for family, while others may be thankful for their recent accomplishments.
Thanksgiving is defined as the expression of gratitude. During this season, it gives us a chance to appreciate the good things in life like our family and the community in which we live. It can also be looked upon as a season of giving.
Winston S. Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
As we gather together with family and friends and reflect on our many blessings during this year, take some time to consider the many children that have been affected by abuse or neglect within their own families. By no fault of their own, these children have been brought into situations beyond their control.
The Lonely Children’s Fund of Iredell County is here to assist with providing some form of normalcy for youth in the foster care system. It can help with the cost of yearbooks, field trips and tutoring sessions, and more. Three children on my caseload will be getting assistance with uniforms, dance and karate class to help with their social skills.
Please take time to donate to the Lonely Children’s Fund, and make a difference in the lives of the children in foster care in Iredell County.
Please send checks and money orders payable to:

The Lonely Children’s Fund goal for the 2024-2025 holiday season is $30,000. I am hopeful that the community will overflow this fund with their donations as these children deserve the very best and normalcy. So, within the next few months, as we gather with family and friends to celebrate this season of thanks, let us keep in mind those that may be less fortunate, and practice the spirit of giving within our hearts.
