Marvin Jay Stotyn, 88, of Troutman, N.C., passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at his residence.

Born in Longmont, Colo., on October 1, 1936, Marvin was the son of the late Herman Louis Stotyn and Wilma Izora Lumry Stotyn.

He served in the United States Air Force, and he retired from the Aurora, Colo., Fire Department as a Lieutenant Fire Fighter. He relocated from Johnstown, Colo., to North Carolina in 2021. Marvin was an avid fisherman and hunter and was known for his woodworking skills.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jeanette Harmon and Darlene Wooldridge, and daughter-in-law, JoEllen Stotyn.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Mona Stotyn; son, Michael Stotyn of Statesville, N.C.; daughter, Patricia Cerven (Michael) of Troutman; grandchildren, Caitlin Granberg (Robert), Cory Cerven and Dakota Stotyn; great grandchildren, Wyatt Granberg and Carter Granberg; sister, Carol Stotyn of Greeley, Colo.; and his beloved dog, Mollee.

There are no formal services planned at this time.
