Michael Christian Foss, 27, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. He was born on November 23, 1997 in Falls Church, Va., to Kristen Sabine Harwood (Todd) and James Francis Foss (Melanie).

Observant and curious, Michael will always be remembered as a giver. He was incredibly thoughtful and exceedingly generous; he always tried to care for the people he loved. He was a talented chef who was fondly known for his ability to pull together seemingly random ingredients to whip up a delicious meal, never using a recipe. He was gifted with the ability to “taste” in his head to know which ingredients would work together. Although encouraged to make cooking a career, he always said it was his rest and relaxation instead.

Michael was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed playing lacrosse and passionately rooted for the Washington Redskins. He had a constant companion in his goldendoodle, Sperry; they were always tooling around town together.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brothers Stephen Foss and William Harwood; his sisters, Soraya Barry (Robert), Isabella Harwood, and Whitney Taylor (Ryan); his nieces, Riley Barry and Kate Taylor; nephew Luke Taylor; grandparents James and Judith Sabine, and Doug and Carol Harwood. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Edward and Ruth Foss.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Mooresville on Thursday, December 12, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to a cause close to Michael’s heart such as the Lake Norman Humane Society (www.lakenormanhumane.org), the Seeing Eye (www.seeingeye.org) or any animal rescue or animal service organization of your choosing.
