Two women face felony drug charges after Iredell County Sheriff’s Office deputies found methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms and marijuana in a home in eastern Iredell County.
Sheriff Darren Campbell announced the arrests of Valerie Kaye Gritzinger, 48, of Denny Road, Statesville, and Angel Gustavo Valenzuela Jimenez, 28, of New Mexico Drive, Statesville, in a news release on Tuesday.
On Saturday, December 7, the Sheriff’s Office received an anonymous tip from a concerned citizen reporting suspected drug activity at 731 Stonecrest Drive, Campbell said. Deputies assigned to the ICSO Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team responded to the residence to investigate.
After arriving at the residence, deputies learned that the homeowner had allowed several guests into his home. The homeowner cooperated fully with the investigation and invited the deputies inside, according to the news release.
A search of the residence uncovered approximately 15.66 grams of methamphetamine, 2.57 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 8.84 grams of marijuana, and various items of drug and marijuana paraphernalia, the sheriff said.
Deputies arrested Gritzinger and Jimenez, both of whom were guests at the residence. They were charged with Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver, Manufacture, or Sell Methamphetamine; Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; Felony Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance; and three misdemeanor drug offenses.
Both Gritzinger and Jimenez were issued $40,000 secured bonds. Jimenez was also served with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement deportation order.
