Carol Pitts Whitley, 81, of Hiddenite, N.C., unexpectedly passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. Carol was born December 29, 1942, in Iredell County to the late Samual Wilson Martin and Mildred Smith Martin.
She was a lifelong member of Pisgah Methodist Church. She was a woman of many talents, including master gardener, chef, and restaurant owner.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori Ann Pitts, and two sons, Robert Pitts Jr. and Samual Whitley.
Survivors include one son, Dwayne Pitts, and wife Diane of Clemmons, N.C.; two daughters, Deborah Jones of Hiddenite and Selina Semones of St. Augustine, Fla.; one brother, Sammie Martin, and wife Ellen of Hildebran, N.C.; one sister, Kathy Van Nest of Raleigh, N.C., seven grandchildren, Lori Pitts, Matthew Pitts, Dillon Whitley, Colten Pitts, Curtis Semones, Sam Semones, and Michael Semones; and four great-grandchildren, Annie, Harmony, Scarlett, and Thomas.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Pisgah Methodist Church. Pastor Matt Harold, Rev. Bill Gerhardt, and Dr. Terry Moore will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 12 to 2 p.m. at the church. Her grandsons will be honoring her as pallbearers. Food for the family and guests provided by the Pisgah ladies immediately following the service.
