Albert Eugene Young, a caring son, brother, special Pop Pop, and friend, passed away peacefully at his residence on December 12, 2024, at the age of 50. Born on May 7, 1974, in Rome, Ga., he lived a simple life, but he was blessed with his loving family and friends.

Albert was a man of many talents and passions. With a career in Maintenance and Manufacturing, he was known for his exceptional ability to take anything apart, fix it, and put it back together better than he found it. His hands were skilled in woodworking and remodeling, crafting beauty and functionality into every project he undertook.

Albert found joy in the great outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, kayaking, and spending time surrounded by nature. His adventurous spirit was matched by his creative pursuits, whether he was cooking for his family in the kitchen or tinkering with auto mechanics as a handyman. Albert also had a unique hobby of collecting bones and skulls, which reflected his deep appreciation for life’s mysteries.

Albert was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his beloved fur baby, Rufus. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his surviving family and friends, including his mother, Bonnie Shew; father, Arvel Young; stepfather, Danny Shew; sisters, Darles Camp and spouse Duane, and Michelle Young; brother, Kenneth Young; nieces and nephews, Fisher, Brooke, and Austin; his special love of 16 years, Cheryl Phillips, and her son Greg and a proud Pop Pop to Natalie and Jasper Phillips, who will forever hold him in their hearts. Albert’s favorite cousin, Brownie Chandler, and a host of aunts and uncles also mourn his passing.

A private family memorial will be held to honor Albert’s life.

Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family.
