The City of Statesville announces the following schedules and changes for the upcoming Christmas holiday:

City offices, including the Statesville Fitness and Activity Center and Bentley Community Center, will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25 in recognition of the Christmas holiday.

Garbage Collection

♦ Residential Routes: Monday’s routes will be collected on the regular schedule. Tuesday and Wednesday’s routes will be collected on Thursday. Thursday and Friday’s routes will be collected on Friday.

♦ Commercial Routes: Monday and Tuesday’s routes will be collected on Monday. Wednesday and Thursday’s routes will be collected on Thursday. Friday and Saturday’s routes will be collected on the regular schedule.

Leaf Collection

Leaf collection will be suspended during the week of Christmas as sanitation crews focus on garbage and recycling collection. Crews will begin picking up live, undecorated Christmas trees from the curb on December 30, 2024.

Recycling

When recycling, please follow these guidelines:

♦ Shiny or glittery wrapping paper cannot be recycled. Please remove ribbon and bows.
♦ Flatten cardboard before placing it in the recycling cart.
♦ Twist ties, ribbons, bow, electric cords and other wires and tanglers  be recycled.
♦ Only #1 and #2 plastic jugs, tubs, and bottles should be recycled.
♦ No Glass is accepted.
