Louis “Lou” Roger Lavoie, 80, beloved Husband, Father and Pépère, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.

Lou was born on August 22, 1944, in Springfield, Mass., to Noel and Genevieve (Wojtanowski) Lavoie. He grew up in Indian Orchard, Mass., and entered the United States Air Force at the age of 18. Lou was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nev., where during his four years of service he specialized in aviation maintenance.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, Lou returned to Indian Orchard, Mass., where he obtained an associate degree in data processing from STCC in Springfield, Mass. After 38 years in data processing, he retired at the age of 60.

He helped develop the first Texas Instrument program for calculating monthly payments for vehicle financing.

On June 28, 1969, he married the love of his life, Patricia Margaret Barslow at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Easthampton, Mass. Louis and Patricia were married for 55 years. They had four children, Kathleen, John, Mary and Michael. Years later he was blessed with four grandsons, Drew, Nicholas, Aaron, and Connor, who adored him, and they had many adventures.

He was predeceased by his parents, Noel and Genevieve Lavoie; and brother Joseph Lavoie.

He is survived by his spouse of 55 years, Patricia Lavoie; four children, Kathleen Lavoie, John Lavoie, Mary Park (Michael) and Michael Lavoie; grandsons, Drew Park, Aaron Park, Connor Park and Nicholas Lavoie; and sister-in-law, Paula Barslow. Lou will be greatly missed by his adoring family.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in the near future.
