Ruth “Sissy” Ann Wright Hager, 74, of Mt. Ulla, N.C., passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at the S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House surrounded by “her girls,” who got a true Christmas miracle knowing that they surrounded her with love and sung their precious Momma to heaven to be with their daddy.
She was born July 8, 1950, in Iredell County, N.C., to the late Orville James Wright and Inez Cora Couch Wright. Ruth was a homemaker. She attended Mitchell Community College and graduated as a CNA.
She was a long-time member of McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church, where she served as the youth choir director and Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a charter member of the Lake Norman Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth was well known for her Christmas caroling adventures in her Pinto.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, David Duey Hager; and siblings, Jimmy Wright, Susie Burt, Ronnie Wright, and Kenneth Wright.
She is survived by her daughters, Gina Gajus, Gwen Hager (John), and Dana Hager (Scott); grandchildren, Stephen (Kali), Shania, Dusty, Courtney (David), Jacob (Jess), Matthew (Ezzy), Cory, and Cooper (Anna-Claire); great-grandchildren, Lucas, Scarlette, Aubrey, Jacob, Lahania, Raelyn, Gracelynn, McKenzie, Clayton, and Adalee; step great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Logan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Saturday, December 28, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. Services will be on Sunday, December 29, at 2 p.m. at McKendree Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Hager and Rev. Chad Nelson officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
