David Lee Nance, 75, of Stony Point, N.C., passed away January 3, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House following an extended illness. David was born in Surry County on September 26, 1949, to the late Ralph Henderson Nance and Mary Ruth Baker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Annette Nance.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Lillian Nance of the home; two daughters, Christine Whitener and husband Shane of Newton, N.C., and Carrie Hartness (Jose) of Lenoir, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Krista Zifko (Ryan), Blaine Hartness, Lindsey Hartness, Garett Payne, Bryson Payne (Rilee), Quincey Whitener and Ella Whitener.

A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m.
