Martha Dyson Sherrill, 75, of Statesville, N.C., passed away peacefully on Monday, January 6, 2025. She was born November 25, 1949, in Statesville.
Martha was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as Youth Leader and children’s Sunday School teacher for over ten years. Clay and Martha recently attended the Church of God in Troutman, N.C.
Martha loved working in sales and worked for many years in furniture sales. She served as a teacher’s assistant at Monticello, Ebenezer, Northview and Scotts elementary schools and retired from the Iredell-Statesville Schools system in 2009.
Martha was a hard worker who enjoyed working on the family angus farm and spending time with her grandkids. She was a great mother and role model, deeply devoted to her family and loved anything outdoors. She taught her children that anything could be accomplished through hard work and determination.
Survivors include her husband, Clay Sherrill of the home; sons, Whitney Sherrill (Janet) of Walkertown, N.C., and Andrew Sherrill (Jennifer) of Statesville, N.C.; brother, Garry Dyson (Cathy) of Palm Desert, Calif., and grandsons Austin, Avery and Ashton and granddaughter Kenley Sherrill.
The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to those who took such great care of Martha, including Ms. Nancy Adams, Ms. Peggy Rumple, Ms. Purnima Yavanmanda, Ms. Erin and Ms. Sasha.
Visitation will be held at Troutman Funeral Home on Thursday, January 9, from 3 until 4 p.m. with a 4 p.m. Chapel Service with Reverend Connor Lambert officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

I remember Martha way back in the early 70’s when I worked at King’s Dept Store. She was a nice lady. I’m sorry to see she has passed away so soon.
