Larry Edward Cass, 77, of Statesville, N.C., passed away January 7, 2025, following an extended illness at home surrounded by loved ones. Larry was born in Surry County on April 9, 1947, to the late Radford Edward Cass and Novella Chatham Cass.

He was a business owner and served in the Navy in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Grassy Knob Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Danny Cass and Thomas Cass; and one sister, Carolyn Cass Wilhelm.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles Cass (LuRae), Darrell Cass (Deryn), and Leon Cass (Pam); one sister, Jan Cass Porter (Billy); long time caregiver, friend, and his “sweetheart”, Kristi Land; two special grandchildren, Rylie and Kaylee Land; and special caregiver Becky Hartline; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 12, 2025, at Grassy Knob Baptist Church at 3 p.m. with full military rites. Pastor Scott Chenevey will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Church. Memorials may be given to Samaritans Purse (P.O Box 3000, Boone NC 28607), St. Jude Children’s Hospital (501 St. Jude Place Memphis TN 38105), or Shriners Children’s Hospital (P.O. Box 1525, Ranson WV 25438).
