Surrounded by family, Charlie Edwards, 90, of Cleveland, N.C., went to meet his Lord and Savior on January 10, 2025.
Charlie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gay Marie Edwards, to whom he was married for 67 years, and his beautiful daughter, Sharon Edwards.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Marty Edwards of Mooresville, N.C.; son, Alvin Edwards and wife Debbie of Cleveland, N.C.; son, Keith Edwards and wife Sandy of Cleveland, N.C.; and daughter Karen Edwards of Cleveland, N.C. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Edwards of Mount Ulla, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.
Charlie was a man of Christian faith who loved his church and the congregation of Morning Star Baptist Church. He had the privilege of serving as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and song leader for many years. A proud veteran, Charlie served in the Navy and later retired from Gamewell Mechanical.
Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake, having cookouts, boating, and fishing. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family will be remembered by all who knew him.
A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland with Pastor Ronald E. Young officiating. Burial will follow the service at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Morning Star Baptist Church Missions in Charlie’s memory.
Charlie Edwards will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
