The Statesville Convention & Visitors Bureau (SCVB) has announced the formation of a search committee to identify and hire a new executive director by May.

Over the past three years, all marketing and operations were outsourced to Spokeology, a local marketing agency led by founder and CEO Cindy Sutton. Under Sutton’s leadership as acting executive director, the SCVB successfully grew tourism in the Statesville area.

The search committee will include SCVB Board Members Pritesh Nagarji and Michelle Hepler, along with Statesville’s Recreation and Parks Director Richard Griggs. Sutton will lead the committee, ensuring a smooth transition.

“The SCVB Board is grateful for Cindy Sutton’s dedication and leadership over the past three years. Her expertise and passion have been instrumental in revitalizing tourism in our community,” said Board Chair Jay “Jimmy” Patel. “Our goal is to have the new executive director in place by May 2025 so they can work closely with Cindy during the transition period before Spokeology’s contract concludes in June.”

Sutton expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve the community.

“It has been an incredible honor to build relationships and advocate for Statesville,” she said. “While I’ve cherished this role, I am refocusing my efforts on growing Spokeology and supporting our other clients. I am confident the new executive director will continue to build on the foundation we’ve created and take Statesville tourism to even greater heights.”

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply by emailing a resume and cover letter to cindy@statesvillenc.com.
