Two Charlotte men were arrested Sunday night following a high-speed pursuit by Mooresville Police Department officers.

The MPD received a report from employees of the Walmart store off Norman Station Boulevard at 8:49 p.m. about the theft of merchandise, police said in a news release. The employees provided a description of the suspect vehicle seen fleeing the area of the Walmart.

Shortly after receiving the call, MPD officers located the suspect vehicle traveling south on Interstate 77 in Mooresville, according to the news release.

When the officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the drive fled, leading to a pursuit that ended in Charlotte after officers used Stop Sticks to deflate the suspect vehicle’s tires, police said.

After the driver stopped the vehicle, the driver and passenger were arrested following a brief foot pursuit, according to the news release.

The driver, identified as Lloyd Carter III, 52, of Charlotte was charged with speeding to elude, reckless driving, felony conspiracy, resist, delay and obstruct, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received a $35,000 secure bond.

The passenger, Endiaye Tyre Jefferson, 48, of Charlotte was charged with larceny from a merchant, felony conspiracy, resist, delay and obstruct, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He received no bond.

The stolen merchandise, which was valued at $828.34, was recovered from the suspect vehicle and returned to Walmart, police said.
