Friends of Lake Norman State Park is sponsoring a Women in Nature winter hike on Thursday, January 16, at 10 a.m.

The hike will begin at the Lake Norman State Park Lake Shore Trailhead off Shortleaf Drive.

Led by Julie Higgie, a retired environmental educator, the hike is geared toward retirees and empty-nesters and should take less than two hours.

Hiking sticks and sturdy shoes are recommended.
