Personnel from Troutman Fire-Rescue, and the Shepherds and West Iredell fire departments responded to a house fire on Lytton Street in Troutman about 12 noon on Tuesday.
Troutman Chief 1 was first on scene and declared a working fire with heavy smoke coming from the multi-story home. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack but were hampered by hoarding conditions throughout the structure.
Unable to make access through the back door of the home, firefighters attacked the fire through second-story windows and made a great stop on the fire that had the potential of spreading through the entire structure.
South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department responded with its Air Van to fill the air bottles used by firefighters.
The fire was declared under control at 12:51 p.m. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was called to assist the two residents.
