Shelby Jean Turner Leazer, 68, beloved daughter of the late Juanita Holland Gaither, and Jackie Gaither, was born in Iredell County, on October 15, 1956. She entered into eternal rest on January 19, 2025, at Iredell Memorial hospital in Statesville, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Derryck Bvane Turner Jr., and a beloved sister, Jacqueline Gaither Bailey.

Shelby was a van driver for Rowan Transit. She was a God-fearing woman, and she loved her daily devotions. She had a big heart and loved everybody, and she would open her home to anyone. Shelby loved going on her annual trips with her cousins and sitting outside enjoying nature, playing bingo, listening to music, and dancing. Shelby will truly be missed.

Shelby heaves to cherish the memories of her life one daughter, Tega Kaye Turner; six brothers, Artis (Karen) Gaither, Gary (Patricia) Gaither, Keith (Sherry) Adams, Robert (Rudy) Stevenson, Gilbert (Stephanie) Summers, and Jeffrey Brown; five sisters, Judy Nesbit, Sherrie (Randy) Adams, Valerie (Ty) Gibbs, Crystal (John) Smith, and Sylvia Costner; eight grandchildren, Teon (Raevyn) Robinson, Malaehi (Kalijah) Turner, Anshea ( Cirhacobee) Turner, Mya Stevenson, Jarell Williams, and Jamexa Turner; and a host of other neices, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
