Russell Glenn Myers, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend entered into rest on Monday, January 27, 2025. Born on December 19, 1947, in Harnett County, N.C., Russell spent his childhood in eastern North Carolina before moving to Mooresville, N.C., in October 1957.

Known affectionately as “Papa” to most, Russell was a jack-of-all-trades, dedicating his life to serving others through his work in construction and landscaping. He possessed a remarkable work ethic, second to none, and was passionate about his craft. He poured his heart into his business and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need, often offering his time and services without hesitation.

Russell was a determined man with a strong will, always finding a way to achieve what he set out to do. He possessed a deep love for his family, friends, and neighbors. Russell was a simple man with a great sense of humor, bringing laughter to those around him.

Russell had a deep appreciation for antique cars, spending countless hours at car shows admiring their beauty and craftsmanship. He loved the oldies, music that stirred his soul, and was a natural on the dance floor. He and his late wife, Kathy, would often take dance lessons and then enthusiastically teach their children the latest moves, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.

After retiring, Russell found solace and contentment tinkering in his beloved shop, a space he cherished so much that he jokingly threatened to move his bed there. His loyal dog, Rocky, was a constant companion, a comforting presence, especially after the passing of “Nana,” Kathy.

Russell was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Myers; his mother, Mary Lou Myers; his wife, Kathy Myers; his granddaughter, Jade Myers; and his son, Robert Walls.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, cherished by his daughters, Lori Hartsell (Dennis) and Melanie Myers, and Lee Myers (Rhiannon); his grandchildren, Brooke Hartsell, Paige Hartsell, Kaleb Myers, Ethan Myers, and Connor Myers; and one great-grandson, Kingston Myers. He is also survived by his loving siblings, Betty Wyatt (Cecil), Judy Moore (Bill), Linda Gail Keller (David-deceased), and Ricky Myers (Ruby).

A celebration of Russell’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville, N.C. Visitation with the family will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
