Trinity Episcopal Church held its 22nd Annual Oyster Roast on January 17 to raise money for the church’s Outreach Ministry.

Rowdy Armistead, chair of the event, said the event was “a tremendous success.”

“Even as cold as it was, the crowd of oyster lovers remained steadfast with their attendance and participation,” Armistead said. “The community support for this event remains steady year over year with two local charities being the beneficiaries each year. The event would not be possible without the legion of Trinity volunteers who provide the Brunswick stew and other foods as well as the labor to augment the steamed oysters. The good that the funds will do in the community is a tribute to one and all.”

The proceeds were donated to Iredell Christian Ministries and Fifth Street Ministries, with each nonprofit receiving $4,400.

“It is most gratifying to see the tremendous support from our community with people of all faiths coming out to support this and all of Trinity’s outreach efforts,” said Rev. Brad Mullis, rector of Trinity Episcopal. “The good that this money will do is a blessing from God, and to God we give thanks.”
