William Smith Watts, 81, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. He was born on October 3, 1943, in North Wilkesboro, N.C., to the late Huford and Ethel Bumgarner Watts.

Mr. Watts was a diesel mechanic and worked for Thurston Motor Line, Bowman Transportation, Carolina Tractor, and the City of Concord until April 1, 2010. He was a member of the New Hope Council #278 Junior Order of America. He attended Oswalt Baptist Church in Troutman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Harrison Watts; brothers, Kyle Watts, Claude Watts; and sisters, Ettie Sue Robinson and Vada-Y McNeil.

He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Catoe and husband Chris; Renee Hill and husband Shane; grandchildren, Alicia Griffin and husband Alex, Austin Hill, Shelby Hill, and Kristina Catoe; brother, Jerry Watts and wife Marcia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 7, from 1 to 2 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Morris officiating. Burial will follow the service at Berea Baptist Church Cemetery, Mooresville. Pallbearers will be Alex Griffin, Joshua Allen, Tommy Watts, Roger Watts, Matthew Thompson and Curtis Thompson.
