David Reid Payne, 69, of Statesville, N.C., passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, following an extended illness. David was born in Davidson County on March 22, 1955, to the late Arnold Payne and Ora Payne.
David was a hard-working man who loved his wife and family. He enjoyed gardening and learned how to can his own tomatoes that he grew. He took such pride in doing his yard work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one stepson, Allen Warren.
David is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Suzie Payne of the home; one son, Derek Payne and wife Kathern of Statesville; one stepdaughter, Pamela Warren Hernandez; five step-grandchildren, Kelsie Ritchie, Kayleigh Hernandez, Kylah Hernandez, Maurissa Hernandez, and Devin Warren; two step-great grandchildren, Savannah and Sterling Ritchie; and several brothers and sisters.
A private service will be announced at a later date.

This is my cousin. His dad and my mom was brother and sister. He was a real good hard-working man that loved his family. When he moved to Statesville we lost contact with him. I remember him back when we all hung around each other growing up. His wife and son and rest of his Family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
