Special to IFN

In an effort to protect client privacy and prevent misinformation, the Iredell County Health Department is urging residents to be cautious of unverified text or email messages claiming to contain medical test results or lab results.

The Health Department does not send medical test results of any kind via text or email. Lab results will only be mailed if a client has specifically requested it.

If you receive an unexpected text, e-mail, or letter regarding medical test results or lab results, do not click on any links or provide personal details. Instead, contact the Health Department immediately at 704-878-5300 to verify the legitimacy of the communication.

“With scams and phishing attempts becoming more common, we want to ensure our clients understand how we communicate with them,” said Health Director Brady Freeman. “If you receive a message that seems suspicious, please call us before taking any action.”
