Ryan Tenor Jr. attends the Collaborative College for Technology and Leadership (CCTL) early college high school within Iredell-Statesville Schools, and via our partnership with Mitchell Community College (MCC). He also is an athlete of West Iredell High School (WIHS). Ryan will graduate in May 2020 with his high school diploma and his Associate in Arts degree. He has been committed to his success in both his academic and athletic endeavors.
During the Spring 2020 semester, Ryan was recruited by and signed with High Point University (HPU) as a Track & Field athlete. Ryan’s grades and athletic ability have resulted in his opportunity to attend HPU to continue his education and his participation in Track & Field competitions at a higher level. HPU has awarded Ryan with a merit-based scholarship to help him achieve his collegiate goals.
Ryan has had stellar academic and athletic performances while in high school. He has a weighted high school GPA of 3.93 and an unweighted community college GPA of 3.65. As his grades indicate, he has performed well academically in the rigorous CCTL early college high school program. Ryan has achieved many athletic honors, as well in local, state, and national competitions. Some of those high school honors include: MVP; all conference; Iredell County most outstanding athlete; conference athlete of the year; and state champion. Outside of high school rankings, specifically in javelin, Ryan ranked 1st in the AAU state championship; 5th in AAU club nationals; 7th in Junior Olympics; and 16th in the New Balance national competition.
Ryan also has been dedicated to community service throughout his high school tenure. Among his community service work, he has served as a mentor; volunteer at the Iredell County Special Needs Prom and as a role model to other student-athletes who are trying to balance school and athletics. Ryan was selected by MCC as a student ambassador.
At HPU, Ryan intends to double-major in Sports Management and Marketing while he participates in Track & Field.
