EnergyUnited has announced the selection of its 2025 Junior Member Ambassadors, recognizing six outstanding students for their leadership, passion and commitment to serving their communities.
Lily Citta and Aidan Mather of Lexington have been selected to represent EnergyUnited at the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in June. This prestigious program will provide them with the opportunity to engage with congressional leaders in Washington, D.C. and gain a deeper understanding of the cooperative business model.
The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour is a nationally recognized leadership program that brings together over 1,500 students from electric cooperatives across the country. During the weeklong experience in Washington, D.C., participants visit historic landmarks, meet with elected officials and explore careers in public service while learning about the impact of electric cooperatives on their communities.
“I would like to thank EnergyUnited for giving me the opportunity to learn more about leadership, government and cooperatives,” said Citta. “I look forward to representing EnergyUnited with the Youth Tour in Washington D.C. this summer.”
“I am honored to be given this opportunity,” added Mather. “I am excited to learn more about how electric co-ops help our community.”
In addition to Youth Tour, EnergyUnited has selected three students to serve as Junior Member Advisory Committee (MAC) members in 2025: Reece Carroll and Michael McNamara of Thomasville, and Harris Huynh of Huntersville. As Junior MAC members, these students will participate in three meetings each year to provide critical feedback for EnergyUnited while also learning more about the cooperative’s current programs and initiatives. All Junior MAC members will also represent EnergyUnited at Cooperative Leadership Camp in June.
EnergyUnited also selected Evva Fordham, a sophomore from Yadkin Valley Regional Career Academy in Lexington, to join the cooperative’s Junior MAC members in attending Cooperative Leadership Camp. Cooperative Leadership Camp is a day-long educational experience in June that focuses on leadership development and cooperative businesses.
“We are excited to invest in these students and provide them with opportunities that will inspire leadership and community engagement,” said LaQuisha Parks, vice president of energy services and corporate communications. “The Junior Member Ambassador Program is one of the most impactful ways we can empower young leaders, and we look forward to seeing how they use their experiences to create positive change.”
EnergyUnited remains committed to developing future leaders by providing meaningful educational opportunities for students within its service area. For more information on the cooperative’s youth programs, visit www.energyunited.com.
