Jack Daniel Owens, 95, of Mooresville, N,C,, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025. Jack was born September 26, 1929, to Espy and Beulah Owens. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gene; and sisters, Thelma, Ruth, Ruby, Hazel, Nell, Evelyn, Phyllis, and Hilda. He attended Landis High School and lived in Rowan County all of his life.

On February 19, 1950, Jack married Mary Ruth Karriker and they recently celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. Jack was a lifelong, baptized member of Concordia Lutheran Church, serving as the Treasurer of the Building and Improvement Fund from 1983 through 1998.

Jack retired from Cannon Mills, Plant One Kannapolis, working in the Dye Room. He especially enjoyed his second career at Lazy 5 Ranch, where he drove a wagon led by a team of horses pulling visitors of all ages around the zoo to see the animals. Jack enjoyed planting and harvesting a garden each year and raising livestock. One of his favorite outings was to attend the weekly local livestock auctions. Over the years Jack and Mary Ruth took many trips to the Amish countryside in Pennsylvania to visit their cherished Amish friends.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Owens; son, Danny Owens; daughter, Doris Goodnight; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

A graveside funeral service conducted by the Reverend Dr. Larry Bost and Reverend George Rhyne, will take place at Concordia Lutheran Church, China Grove, on March 3, 2025, at 2 p.m.. Following the service, family will receive friends in the Family Life Center.
