Edward Joe Messick, 73, of Mocksville, N.C., passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his home.
He was born on September 7, 1951, in Iredell County to Rachel Hager Messick and the late John H. Messick.
Joe attended Whitman Park Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid deer hunter. He loved playing and singing country music. Joe’s greatest passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a very simple man.
In addition to his father, Joe was preceded in death by a nephew, Jamie Culbertson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret W. Messick; mother, Rachel Hager Messick; children, Deborah Reid (Kenny Rogers) and Tamela Trivett (Brad); brother, Tommy Messick; sister, Brenda Messick Culbertson; brother-in-law, James Culbertson; grandchildren, Joseph L. Reid, Kay-Leigh Reid, Joseph M. Reid, Thomas G. Reid, Brittany Reid, P.J. Reid, Kaylan Reid, Devin Trivett, Zachery Trivett, Skylar Trivett, and Hailey Trivett; and extended family, Dawn (Kaida) Goff.
Visitation for family and friends will be on Monday, March 3, from 1 to 3 p.m., at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A service will be at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, with Pastor Jacob Scott officiating.
