James Carson Burris passed away recently at his home. He was born February 23, 1972, in Douglas, Ga., and moved to North Carolina the following year. James was 53 years old. His passing was due to a heart attack.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Bentley of the home, and his stepchildren, Maddie and Zack. He is also survived by his father, Jack Burris of Statesville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Chapman Burris.

A skilled and dedicated concrete finisher, James took great pride in his work. Brenda describes him best: He would give you the shirt off his back and had done so for those in need. His generosity and kind heart will be deeply missed.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Chapman Funeral Home from 2 to 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Gordon Hospice House or My Sister’s House.
