David “Dave” Harold Schroen, 83, of Mooresville, N.C., and formerly of Brighton, Mich., went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 28, 2025, at home with his loving wife at his side. He was born on February 6, 1942, in Chelsea, Mich., son of the late Robert F. and Arlene M. Schroen.

Outgoing by nature, Dave always enjoyed meeting people. He talked with everyone, and relished the time spent with his family. Dave had a love for the game of golf, playing as much as he could in his Senior Golf League. He enjoyed reading and history, especially the Civil War era. He also had a love of aviation and flying his private plane. Dave received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a master’s degree from the University of Southern California, both in Aerospace Engineering. He was an Engineer at Ford Motor Company, retiring after 28 years.

Most important to him was his love for his family, and he will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, father-in-law, stepfather, grandfather, step-grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Dave’s kindness will always be remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Schroen of Mooresville; sons, Jeffrey Palmer Schroen and wife Liberty of Howell, Mich., and Mark David Schroen and wife Jill of Bellaire, Mich.; daughter, Tracy (Schroen) Lareau and husband Steve of Bellaire, Mich.; sister, Sue Schroen and partner Grace; brother, Duane Schroen and wife Hazel; and sister, Carol Schroen and partner Eugene. He was blessed with having eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 22, from 10 to 11 a.m. with a service following at 11 a.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org, or Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
