Mallion Louise Erwin, 80, of 1271 Elizabeth Avenue, Statesville, N.C., was born in Iredell County on July 28, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Erwin and Louise Blair Campbell. She departed this life on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Iredell Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Wanda Campbell and James Erwin; her nieces, Leslie Gray and Cheryl Hemingway; and nephews, Asai Miller and Darran Hemingway.
She attended Statesville City Schools and was employed by the Hospital as a CNA.
She leaves to remember and celebrate her life her sisters, Mary Erwin of the home, Eunice Lazenby and Darlene (Randy) Miller, both of Statesville; her nephews, Jamie Campbell, Anthony Erwin and Randall Miller; her nieces, Tracy (William) Glascoe, Stephanie Erwin (Michael), Tia Erwin, Anya Miller, Chandra Lazenby, Tonya Lazenby and Arlette Scott; her nieces, Zylah Miller, Madison Wells, Keanna Wells and Chanel Wells, Amya Gibbs, Jonaia Cole, Brianna Scott and Driana Scott; great nephews, Anthony Gibbs, Hyden Gibbs, Jaylen Gibbs, Justin Erwin, Tyrese Erwin, Jaylen Lazenby, Oliver Glascoe, Owen Glascoe, Derell Scott, DeKari Scott, DeRea Gray, Quinton Lazenby, Clyde Lazenby and Kamron Lazenby; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Saturday, March 8, 2025, in the Mary B. Bigham Memorial Chapel of Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home. Minister Kelly Brawley will officiate and Reverend Barbara McCollum will eulogize. Burial will follow in the Belmont Cemetery. Ms. Erwin will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home where members of the family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:00 p.m., but will assemble at the residence at other times.
