On Saturday, March 8, the Mount Mourne Volunteer Fire Department, along with the South Iredell and Lake Norman fire departments, held a live burn training off Presbyterian Road. The property was donated by Shearer Presbyterian Church. Firefighters were able to experience live fire scenarios, the closest training to being in a real fire operation. With this type of training, they are able to experience the extreme heat and zero visibility while searching for possible victims and extinguishing the fire. These scenarios sharpen the firefighters’ skills to better protect the communities they serve. The training was a success.
