Ms. Doris Greene Skeen, 92, of Mooresville, N.C. passed away on March 9, 2025. Doris was born on April 21, 1932, in Biscoe, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Greene and Revaulda Nelson Greene.

Doris was a member of the Mooresville First Presbyterian Church and graduated from Biscoe High School. After high school, she entered the City Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1953. While there, she made and kept many lasting friends.

She was married to William Waldo Skeen of Biscoe, N.C., in 1954. Together they raised a son and daughter. Doris enjoyed people, life, poetry, music, golf, reading, gardening, and interior decorating. For many years she was a soloist in the church choir and wrote inspiration poetry. She kept a very positive attitude and was able to overcome many of life’s struggles. She was a member of the Mooresville Women’s Golf Association and the CSGA of Charlotte, N.C. For thirty years she was an American Red Cross volunteer assisting with the blood program.

Survivors include her son William McDuffy Skeen and wife Kimberly Moore Skeen of Pittsboro, N.C.; and her daughter, Laura Skeen Archer of Greensboro N.C. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Wright R. Archer IV, Macie Moore Skeen, Katherine Brown Skeen; and one great grandchild, Raymond William Archer.

A memorial service will be held April 2, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Mooresville, N. C.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, N.C. The Skeen family appreciates the wonderful care and support they provided during this difficult time.
