Ann Becknell (née Puckett), 87, passed away on March 13, 2025, in Mooresville, N.C.
Born on October 17, 1937, in Kannapolis, N.C., Ann lived a life filled with strength, resilience, and a deep love for those around her. Ann was a devoted mother to her daughter, Cathey Timms, and a cherished grandmother to granddaughters, Bobbie Campbell, Becky Timms, Elizabeth Walker, Katherine Troy and Savannah Troy; and grandsons, Patrick Timms and Nicholas Troy. She was also deeply loved by Melissa and Sarah Tomczak, her “adopted” granddaughters. She had 14 great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Becknell; her daughter, Mary Alice Troy; and her son, Jeffrey Becknell.
A longtime member of Peninsula Baptist Church, Ann found great joy in attending services, Sunday School, and gatherings with fellow elder members of the congregation. Her faith was central to her life, and she deeply valued the fellowship and support of her church family. She had a sharp mind and an incredible memory. Thoughtful and genuinely interested in others’ lives, Ann faithfully kept in touch with friends and family through beautifully written letters, cards, and notes. She nurtured relationships with sincerity and curiosity. Ann had an insatiable love for reading and learning. She eagerly sought books, magazines and newspapers from everyone she knew. She also took great pleasure in growing flowers and plants and observing the wildlife that visited her property.
A luncheon to celebrate Ann’s life will be held on March 21, 2025, at Peninsula Baptist Church (687 Brawley School Road, Mooresville, NC 28117) from 12 to 2 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
A green burial will take place at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary (195 Blessed Way, Mills River, NC 28759) on March 22, 2025, from 12:45 to 2 p.m.
Ann was deeply loved and respected by all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those whose lives she touched. Her life made the world a better place!
