Beatrice Smith Dixon, 77 of Cleveland, N.C., peacefully entered eternal rest on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Beatrice, known as “Bea,” was born April 3, 1947, in Pike County, (Phelps) Ky.. to the late Clarence and Myrtle Coleman Smith.

Beatrice spent the majority of her time both professionally and personally in retail, which combined her love of shopping and serving the needs of others.

In addition to her parents, Beatrice was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Jean and Racine; brothers, Vernon, Frank Stirl, Marvin and Willard; brother-in-law, Jack Hatfield; and sisters-in-law, Francis, Pauline and Pat.

To honor Beatrice’s memory and celebrate her life, she leaves her beloved husband of 41 years, David; daughter, Teresa; granddaughter, Brandie (Matthew) and great-grandson, Camden; sisters, Irene (Buddy) and Annetta; brothers, Clarence (Ella); Bill (Debbie) and Virgil; sister-in-law, Delphia; and stepsons, David A. and Danny; as well as beloved nieces, nephews and countless friends and neighbors.

Beatrice was a member of the Freedom Christian Center in Mooresville, N.C., where as a devoted woman of God she was a shining example of faith, kindness and steadfast love. Her life reflected her deep faith, which she shared with others in her daily life and warm caring spirit. Beatrice has left a lasting legacy of service and compassion, that will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of her life will be held in Phelps, Ky., at a later date.
