Mrs. Geneva Kathleen Speaks Dalton, 90, of Tabor Road, Olin, N.C., was the daughter of the late Earl and Tamar Williams Speaks. She was born in Iredell County on September 22, 1934. She departed this life on Friday, March 21, 2025, at her home.

She received her schooling in Iredell County, graduating from Unity High School in 1952, and joined Friendship Baptist Church at an early age, where she sang with the Senior Adult Choir. She was a loving Pastor’s wife, enjoyed canning, sewing, gardening, walking and spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Henry Preston Dalton; and her siblings, McKinley Speaks, Brisco Speaks, Vera (Harold) James, and Judy Morris.

She leaves to cherish the memory of her life four children, Deborah Dalton Gaither of Olin, Curtis (Sarah) Dalton of Mooresville, Keith Gregory Dalton of Statesville and Frederick Alan (Lori) Dalton of Harmony; one brother, Henry (Carolyn) Speaks; grandchildren, Shawn (Avis) Gaither, Elliot Gaither, Latoya (Gavin) Turner, Jevone (Kadee) Primus, Clarice Milliken, La’Keithen Dalton, Jasman Mozer; Erin Reavis, Christian Reavis and Mackenzie Dalton; 14 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Jackie Speaks, Kathlene Speaks, Dorothy Speaks, Nathaniel (Geraldine) Dalton, Sarah Ramseur, Vehester Dalton, Gilbert Dalton, Johnny Dalton and Karen Dalton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, the Friendship Baptist Church Family, neighbors and dear friends.

Celebration of Life Services will be conducted Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Union Grove at 2 p.m. Mrs. Dalton will remain at Rutledge and Bigham Funeral Home until taken to the church to lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Members of the family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 p.m, but will assemble at the residence at other times.
