Three new Statesville City Council members will be sworn in during Monday evening’s regular council meeting.
Superior Court Judge Joseph Crosswhite is scheduled to administer the oath to David Jones, Amy Lawton and Frederick Foster, each of whom was elected in November’s run-off election.
Jones will represent Ward 1, Lawton Ward 4 and Foster Ward 6.
After the swearing-in ceremony, the council will elect a mayor pro tempore for the coming year.
Mayor Costi Kutteh will also acknowledge the service of outgoing members Michael Johnson, Roy West and Keith Williams, all of whom decided against seeking another term on the council.
The pre-agenda meeting begins at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting at 7 p.m. Both meetings are in City Hall.
OTHER BUSINESS
In other business, the council will:
♦ Receive an auditor’s report for the Convention & Visitors Bureau for fiscal year 2019.
♦ Consider approval of engineering and design services by Parrish and Partners, LLC for the East Corporate Hangar Apron Project at Statesville Regional Airport in the amount of $457,461.
♦ Consider approval of engineering and design services from Parrish and Partners, LLC for the Southeast Parallel Taxiway Lighting and new Electrical Vault Project at Statesville Regional Airport in the amount of $163,166.
♦ Consider two options for adding parking at the Statesville Civic Center. A consultant has proposed two options: (1) would create 120 new spaces at an estimated cost of $1 million; and (2) would create 80 spaces at an estimated cost of $615,000. Acquisition of the property at 315 S. Meeting Street would cost an additional $46,790.
