FROM STAFF REPORTS
About 700 customers of Statesville Electric Utilities remained without electricity Thursday evening after Tropical Storm Zeta swept through Iredell County early Thursday morning.
Crews worked throughout the day to restore power to the more than 6,000 customers who lost power, but were expected to stop working after dark, city officials said in a news release.
A crew from High Point is expected to arrive Friday morning to help complete the restoration work.
The city had 28 calls for downed trees.
However, street crews and firefighters responded to all calls to make sure that down lines were not live and removed trees from the streets.
Thank you to statesville fire department as they responded to our home after midnight Thursday. Our co2 sensors were activated. The firemen came over and professionally handled the situation. So thank you from my wife and I. Rob Gill
