The Iredell County Health Department reported the county’s 19th death on Thursday. Local health officials do not release any identifying information about COVID-19 patients.
So far this week the Health Department has reported 137 new laboratory confirmed cases, bringing the total number of positive cases in the county to 1,871.
Among those:

♦ 1,403 people are presumed recovered; and
♦ 19 people have died
People of all ages continue to test positive for COVID-19 in Iredell. Twenty-four percent of those who have tested positive in the county are under age 25; 39 percent are between age 25 and 49; and 37 percent are over age 50.
Geographic Dispersal of COVID-19 Cases in Iredell County
According to the Health Department, 728 people have tested positive in the southern end of the county, 749 in the central region and 394 in the northern end.
County officials have continued to urge residents to wear face coverings, practice social distancing and wash their hands frequently.
Iredell County is fortunate that we seem to have good health care here. Our Covid-19 morbidity rate is roughly half that of the rest of the nation. That is good new, but not a reason to become complacent. Please keep social distancing, wearing masks, and practicing good hygiene. Only when the number of cases plateau will our Governor finally move us to Phase 3.
Another FIVE long weeks is going to harm many more businesses and people. I wish he’d consider evaluating it on a weekly basis while watching the trends.
