FROM STAFF REPORTS
Iredell health officials reported another death attributed to COVID-19 on Thursday and the number of patients hospitalized with the novel coronavirus in the county remains near the all-time high.
The latest death is the county’s 46th since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March. Local health officials do not release personal information about patients, including those who have passed away.
In addition to the latest death, the Iredell County Health Department reported 44 new laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, a day after 100,000 new cases were reported across the United States.
There have been a total of 4,284 confirmed cases in Iredell County. Among those:
♦ 30 people who have tested positive are currently hospitalized;
♦ 520 people who have tested positive are isolating at home; and
♦ 3,688 people who have tested positive are presumed recovered
Iredell officials continue urging residents to wear face coverings, practice social distancing, and wash their hands frequently.
Why the disconnect between the information reported by the Iredell Health Department and information reported by NCDHHS? DHHS has reported 34 Covid related deaths in Iredell County for weeks, as deaths reported by the County continue to increase. I am not calling either into question but I am curious why the numbers do not align.
