Mt. Mourne eighth-grader wins state championship in art competition

Adela Campuzano, an eighth-grader at Mt. Mourne School, was recently recognized as the Middle School State Champion for the visual art of painting.

The N.C. Scholastic State Finals of the North Carolina Art Showcase were held on February 8 at Cox Mill High School in Concord. More than 50 schools competed in the competition.

Campuzano’s painting is based on a maasai poem written by Jaki Shelton Brown.
