Special to Iredell Free News
Are you curious to learn more about what Iredell-Statesville Schools has to offer in the area of virtual learning for homeschoolers? The district will host an informational Zoom meeting at 12 noon on Thursday, June 11. The meeting will provide information on iAcademy for grades 6-12.
The I-SS iAcadey offers a hybrid approach to education, including access to certified teachers. Participating students have access to classroom learning or at home. The program allows parents and students to develop a customized learning plan and offers access to a school counselor for college and career planning.
iAcademy for grades 6-12 caters to homeschool students who are looking for a flexible schedule, but need the support of a teacher for the rigor and challenges of middle and high school courses. Students who attend iAcademy for grades 6-12 attend all classes virtually through either Virtual I-SS or NCVPS.
The campus is housed at the Career Academy and Technical School in Troutman. Each course of study is tailored to the needs of the student. iAcademy is best suited for students who find it difficult to attend a high school that meets daily on a regular schedule. Students who are involved in competitive sports and travel or have an illness typically also take advantage of the iAcademy.
In 2020, 22 I-SS students received their high school diploma exclusively through the iAcademy virtual learning program.
